Impacts 1. Psychological Intervention Program (PIP): Mental Health Tanzania (MHT) successfully offered Psychological Intervention Program (PIP) to BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania which directly impacted 545 individuals who had Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Psychotic symptoms as well as got educated about mental health through psychoeducation and mental health awareness in Dar Es Salaam and Tanga at different times in 2021 and 2022 2. Mental Health Assessments & Screening Services: Since 2022 to 2024, we have assessed more than 250 individuals by using a standardized Assessment Form in Kiswahili Language 3. Mental Health Clinics in Mwanza, Dar Es Salaam and Dodoma. More than 500 individuals who requested mental health services such as psychotherapy, counselling and guidance, have been served through our clinics, home visiting as well as using our professionals around the country. Impacts MHT has been successful in reaching millions of beneficiaries (Tanzanians) for the last 5 years in row through psychoeducation and mental health awareness program. This is because, we daily use different methodologies, projects and programs to reach as many beneficiaries at once. 1. For the month of October 2020, MHT as organizer, partnered with other mental health stakeholders to hold World Mental Health Day event at Mnazi Mmoja Ground- Dar es Salaam of which more than 500 participants attended. 2. For the month of October 2021, MHT participated World Mental Health Day as a main mental health stakeholder in Dodoma at Mirembe Referral Hospital. The event was organized by the government through Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elders and Children. 3. For the month of October 2022, MHT organized World Mental Health Day in Dar Es Salaam, and MHT managed to provide psychoeducation, mental health awareness and psychological support to more than 200,000 individuals through events, webinars, broadcasting medias, social media MHT has conducted major four seminars of which all together attended more than 2000 participants. These seminars and conference provided psychosocial support, psychoeducation, and mental health awareness in different mental health issues. These were held at Arusha Institute of Accountancy- Arusha; at Regency Hotel-Dar Es Salaam; at St. Joseph university- Dar Es Salaam and at St Christina Girls-Tanga. 4. MHT has been conducting more than 50 psychosocial support, psychoeducation, and mental health awareness seminars, workshops and training through partnering or being invited by partners and other stakeholders of which in return impacted thousands of participants for the last two years. Impacts 1. On 11-13 November 2019 MHT attended at the Non-Communicable Diseases Conference-Dodoma organized by Medical Association Tanzania and presented an abstract on on: A Sustainable Academic Strategic Approach of Resolving Challenges as Well as Promoting Mental Health Care Systems in Tanzania. 2. On 27-28 November 2019, MHT participated on the 6th Tanzania Health Summit-Dodoma and present an abstract on A Sustainable Academic Strategic Approach of Resolving Challenges as Well as Promoting Mental Health Care Systems in Tanzania. 3. On 25-26th November 2020, MHT participated on the 7th Tanzania Health Summit-Dodoma and presented an abstract tilted: Mental Health Tanzania App for service users and multidisciplinary practitioners. 4. On 14 October 2019, Mental Health Tanzania, got invited to The Tanzania embassy in Uganda to speak to the youths about mental health awareness of which Mr. Steven and Peter Maswi from MHT, presented the mental health awareness to Youth specifically on Substance use and addiction. 5. On the 13thth October 2019, MHT honored The Mental Health Tanzania Awards to Ms. Winfrida Erasto. This MHT award aims at recognizing individuals who extraordinary show the differences by advocating and helping the community on mental healthcare in Tanzania. 6. On the 10th October 2020, MHT honored The Mental Health Tanzania Awards to Dr Kuduishe Kisowile. This MHT award aims at recognizing individuals who extraordinary show the differences by advocating and helping the community on mental healthcare in Tanzania. 7. On the 1st October 2022, MHT honored The Mental Health Tanzania Awards to Ms. Masuma Somji This MHT award aims at recognizing individuals who extraordinary show the differences by advocating and helping the community on mental healthcare in Tanzania. 8. On the 1st October 2021, in addition to mental health Tanzania award, MHT offered recognition to individuals, agencies, organizations, and agencies for continuously advocating on mental health, Mental Disorders and Psychological Challenges in Tanzania. by awarding them certificates. On the 29th and 30th September 2022, MHT attended The National Annual NGOs Forum in Dodoma for two days organized by Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elders and Children. The forum aimed at strengthening and capacity building of organizations. The guest of honor was H. E Samia Suluhu Hassan, the president of United Republic of Tanzania. 10. MHT has helped and influenced tens of agencies, NGOs, government and other mental health stakeholders to advocate on mental health in Tanzania hence MHT has been a frontier organization in advocating on mental healthcare in Tanzania and has set example and inspired other mental health stakeholders to do the same. Thousands of Tanzanians have become aware of what really mental health is all about. 11. MHT participated Mental Health Stakeholder Conferences organized by MEHATA on 8th and 9th October 2021 12. MHT has done advocacy Outreaches to 17 NGOs, companies, and other institutions around Mwanza. The outreaches aimed at seeking partnerships, engagements and providing mental health awareness as well as mental health Services to them. Impacts In February to March 2021, Mental Health Tanzania (MHT) conducted competition among drawing artists of which 11 artists participated. Mr David Hezron Nganonga became the finalist of the competition. Mr David and MHT have been since then working together to produce mental health contents related artistic works through drawing (Mental Health Artworks). The partnership aims at promoting mental health, raising awareness, encourage communities to normalize mental health talks and reduce stigmas through artistic expression. Under the agreement between Mental Health Tanzania (MHT) and David Hezron Nganonga, both parties agree to produce, promote and market mental health contents related artistic works through drawing. All artworks produced under this contract belongs to both parties. Decision to use the artworks should come from both parties. In case of selling the artwork, the money obtained will be displayed into both parties.However, agreement may be reached by both parties to use 100% of the funds obtained from selling or occasioning the artworks for: (1) Expanding the production of artworks, (2) Empowering other youths through Mental Health Artworks Program as well as (3) Supporting the victims of mental illnesses.Currently, already 10 artworks produced but not sold. Impacts Since 2019, Mental Health Tanzania (MHT), has been working with children, adolescents and youths in Tanzania, not only who were suffering from mental health and psychological challenges but also for those who needed mental health motivations for their everyday lives. The program has impacted directly more than 9,000 children, adolescents and youths, since 2019 countrywide. MHT has managed to benefit the beneficiaries through: providing psychosocial support, psychoeducation and mental health awareness among children, adolescents, and youths. Advocating, promoting, and supporting children, adolescents and youths’ mental health and wellbeing. Furthermore, MHT has been addressing factors affecting their mental health and causing distress leading to mental health conditions as well as providing holistic mental health services such as psychotherapy, counselling, and guidance to children, adolescents, and youths. This has been done through conducting seminars, workshops and training in community settings, schools, colleges and universities or in our offices and clinics. Impacts – Since September 2019, MHT has deployed two applications whereby December 2021, there were 442 downloads, 72 bookings seeking mental health services and 8 articles published through apps. Impacts -MHT attended Research Priority Setting Workshop on Adolescents Mental Health organized by National Institute for Medical Research in Dar Es Salaam. Impacts -MHT Participated at MACCOBA Colour RUN Marathon in Arusha; 26/10/2019. -Provided mental health awareness focusing on suicide awareness to more than 200 participants through sport and games -MHT Participated in football league as main sponsor. This was a football league with 16 teams from within and outside Kitunda Word organized by Word level administration in partnership with Ayuza TV sponsored by MHT. -Provided psychoeducation and mental health awareness to more than 300 people Moreover, MHT in partnership with Xtreme Camping and TATA Tanzania, held sport and games activities in Dar Es Salaam-2022 |
